COVID-19 Response

Nightingale Montessori is planning for three possible scenarios for the 2020-2021 academic year. We are relying on state guidance and mandates as well as CDC best practices to inform our plans. Below are the outlined Plans A, B and C as of 7/9/2020

PLAN A: Remote Learning or Shutdown This plan is based on the State of Ohio issuing a Stay-At- Home order and for schools to move to Remote Learning (as was experienced in March of 2020).

  • IT – Oversee Remote Learning Needs; Work will be off site and Remote unless access or needs at the building are determined

Remote Learning:

  • 5 ½ hours of instruction per day

  • Attendance tracked for each student for each 5 ½ hours

  • Attendance can count if student attends an online class meeting

  • Every task/work will be assigned a value based on the amount of time it typically takes to complete.  When the assignment is turned in for credit, the time will be assigned to the attendance.  The evaluation of the assignment will be separate from the attendance

PLAN B: Hybrid Learning Environment.  This plan is based on the State of Ohio providing guidance for schools to limit contact between students. It is a blend of Remote Learning and in-person classroom learning with an emphasis to promote outdoor learning environments as much as possible. Your students will be placed into one of three groups.  The placement of students will be determined in collaboration with parents/guardians and Nightingale teachers/administration.  Nightingale Montessori will open the 2020-2021 school year following this plan.

Hummingbirds – all students will attend all day every day

Chickadees – all students will attend all day every day

Eagles, Owls, Falcons and Wings – 3 Groups – Group 1 (Full Time, In-Person Learning) – students attend all day every day, Group 2 (Hybrid/Blended Learning) – students attend M, W and every other F, Group 3 (Hybrid/Blended Learning) – students attend T, TH and every other F.

Hybrid/Blended Learning

  • In this model, students will spend some of their time learning remotely and some of their time in face-to-face learning, in the building.  Their schedule will consist of some combination of two learning opportunities. All staff will work in person at the building to serve students remotely and on campus.  Students working remotely will be online for their normal scheduled times and their instruction will be provided remotely.

Full-time, In-person Learning:

  • This option will be available for students who need more direct instruction, more structure to their daily schedule, and supervision of their level of work. Students will be in school for the normal scheduled times and their instruction will be in person.

PLAN C: Full Open, No Restrictions. This plan is based on a normal school environment with no restrictions in place from the state of Ohio.
